Carrickfergus Cricket Club hosted its Winter Coaching Academy on Sunday afternoons in Carrick Amphitheatre. 26 of the Club's most promising young players between the ages of 11 and 15 have been invited to attend the 6 week course which is being delivered by the Club's ECB qualified coaches, with appearances by Cricket Ireland coaches to add their expertise.The course incorporates all aspects of the game, with modules on batting, bowling, wicketkeeping, and fielding, challenging and encouraging the participants to develop their skills. The Carrick Club, which is one of only 8 in Northern Ireland to hold Sport NI's Clubmark Accreditation, continues its commitment to providing quality coaching, good competition, and a safe environment for its young players. The Club will again be providing coaching for and fielding teams in league and cup cricket at the Under 11, Under 13, and Under 15 age groups, and will for the first time this season be offering coaching at the club for boys and girls in the Under 9 age group. Carrick will again be providing coaching in 14 local schools, as well as sessions throughout the summer at their superb facilities at Middle Road. Pre-season coaching for local youngsters will be held in Carrick Amphitheatre during March and April, details will appear here shortly.
