Last Monday Club players, officials and sponsors attended the 20th Belfast Telegraph Annual Sporting Awards. The Club was nominated for the Team of the Year Award. Other nominees were: Belfast Giants, Cliftonville FC and the NI Commonwealth Games Boxing Team. It was a great achievement and accolade just to be nominated and the citation for the Club read as follows: "Carrick's talented and hard-working cricketers swept all before them last year. They were the team that could not be stopped, completing a fantastic Grand Slam of successes. The Carrickfergus side, expert with bat, ball and in the field, claimed the NCU Senior League, the T20 Trophy, the Ulster Shield and the All Ireland National Cup."
Unfortunately we missed out on winning the Award that went to the Boxing Team, but we were delighted to be nominated and to enjoy a great evening celebrating all that is good about local sport here in Northern Ireland.
