Youth Review: 9th - 19th June

Youth teams have mixed fortunes

Carrick’s Under 15’s had a comfortable 9 wicket win over Muckamore, who scored 93 in their 20 overs, with Adam Crook taking 2 wickets. Carrick scored the required runs in only 9.5 overs, with Max Burton the only wicket to fall, for 28. An unbeaten 38 from Tom Stewart and 24 not out from AJ Hussell saw them home. It was a different story against Templepatrick where Carrick only managed to score 93 for 8, the main contributors coming from Sam Lilburn (21) and Jack Buchanan-Rolleston (20). Templepatrick lost just 2 wickets in passing Carrick’s modest total in the 16th over.

Carrick’s Under 13’s met Donaghcloney twice within a week, losing away in the Banoge Cup, but getting their revenge in a league match at Middle Road. In the cup match Cloney batted first and scored 93 for 9 in their 20 overs, with Ben Buchanan-Rolleston taking 4-20. Despite a fine unbeaten 30 from Mark Hunter with good support coming from Scott Gardner with 17, Carrick ran out of overs and were 82 for 8 at the end their 20 overs. Donaghcloney fared even better with the bat in the league match, scoring 117 for 3 in their 20 overs. A super innings of 40 from Ben Buchanan-Rolleston, with good support coming from Marcus Baird, Evan Robinson and Nathan Toland, saw Carrick home in the 19th over for the loss of 7 wickets.
